NYFW DAY 3 (part 1)

Nearly a week overdue, but here’s a semi-brief overview of the morning of our third day at NYFW. Wearing the !funnest! and most !creatively! cross-coordinated outfits we stuffed into our overflowing suitcases, the heavily tailored MMM for H&M pants I coaxed Bianca into wearing perfectly matched the hue of my denim shirt – much like her (suddenly) ~signature~ orange hat matched my bizarre fat boy orange knit pants with incredible accuracy. Though staring at ourselves in a full-length mirror made it painfully obvious that we planned our outfits, there were still many who inquired about the strange coincidence(?!?!?!?!).

Before proceeding, it is important to note that many of these unflattering pictures are stolen from Alyssa – because 1) she really knows how to capture my good side and 2) also because we love her and miss her.

Other people that we are currently missing are our FUN FRIENDS Lisa Dengler and Bobby Raffin!!! They were the official ~instagrammers~ for Lookbook.nu, so they were frantically running around taking pictures of people and things and more things and more people. These things and people were not limited to any specific theme or topic, but our faces were frequently involved.

Speaking of our faces, we got snapped for two Refinery 29 stories which was super cool!!! I ~luv waking up to seeing giant closeups of my face plastered on the internet.~ (no sarcasm intended because I actually do luv it).

Our first show of the day gave us the opportunity to cozy up in the photographers pit at Lacoste. Minus the fact that both my legs were numb and asleep by the end of the show, it was fun/a good experience/a good view/and a prime location for INSTAGRAMMING.

The collection itself was absolutely SICK, and the first half of the show, (consumed by unconventional materials, structured shapes, sportswear inspiration, and fun monochromatic patterns), actually rendered us speechless. Though the second half of the show didn’t trigger as much of an emotional response :( :( :( we appreciated the bold pops of orange and kelly green, (which perfectly complemented the materials, silhouettes, and greyscale-hues of our favourite looks).

Also, irrelevant/relevant, but I’ve convinced myself that owning a translucent suit-coat-situation is absolutely imperative if I want to pursue any kind of career in any sort of creative industry.

The next show of the day was Son Jung Wan, which was chock full of furry fun, pastel hues, and remixed Lana Del Rey crooning to correspond with various velvet garments. Our favourite looks of the collection were definitely the artfully crafted furry pieces, which took form in unconventional pieces like a t-shirt and a swing dress-coat.

Though at the core, all of Son Jung Wan’s work is rooted in whimsical elements, juxtaposition with structured shapes and and feminine detailing really made for a cohesive and aesthetically coherent collection.

And FINALLY, see Bianca and I get pseudo-interviewed by the super sweet girls from Sweden’s top news outlet, Aftonbladet! We talk about being ~profassionals~ and ~maximalists~ while freezing our butts off because #nemo.

In this post we’re wearing:
Dani: Cheap Monday top, vintage pants, H&M coat, Messeca shoes
Bianca: Vintage top (similar here), MMM for H&M pants, Aritzia blazer (similar here), Messeca shoes

haha i love this. i wouldn’t have even noticed the subtle coordination if you hadn’t mentioned it. The orange pants are perf. As far as shows go, Lacoste looks like it would have been breathtaking. I love the muted tones; it’s so wintery and everything looks very painterly. As far as a transluscent suit coat, I think you should jump on that, that model looks amazing. augh!
