Every month or so I find myself sighing in regret over the cornucopia of low-quality past purchases sitting in my closet. I curse the retail world that charges a 120383% markup on said items and I fall to my knees in utter pain/disappointment/negative feelings. But then, an angel in the form of an Everlane PR person was sent to me, with an email that read, “I would love to send you one of our silk blouses to feel the quality & fit.” The words, in conjunction with Hallelujah sung by a million tiny voices, echoed in my mind. I. Would. Love. To. Send. You. One. Of. Our. Silk. Blouses.
If I had known about Everlane prior to this divine moment, I would’ve bought one of their flawless silk shirts myself. They’re a company that cuts out all the middle men – including salespeople, a brick-and-mortar store, maybe a translator to process at factories overseas, and a handful of other obscure extra costs – and brings luxury items to you at the lowest markup possible. I would lay down on the highway to vouch for the impeccable quality. I would RISK MY LIFE, Y’ALL.
Anyway, they recently started shipping to Canada so now I can bask in the glory of way too many highway-death-inducing silk shirts for the rest of my life. And maybe I’ll end up half-tucking all of them like I did in the above photos because Refinery 29 said it was trendy. I love you, Everlane. And I love you, FortyEight, for sending along the perfect complementary pair of Miista shoes and my friends at NTHNG for giving me this nice beanie.
Speaking of silk, my friend Xylk (which is pronounced “silk” if you didn’t catch that already) is in this incredible musical duo called Plaitwrights. He also wears straw hats pretty often ergo the above pictures. He even wore one to prom. Anyway, they just released a long-awaited music video approximately ten seconds ago, so please check them out and be DAZZLED by the YOUNG TALENT that is HOMEGROWN in TORONTO. Sporadic CAPS LOCK words makes it THAT MUCH more URGENT. Enjoy!!!

Oh my god. I love that concept by Everlane! I am totally buying one of their silk shirts with my tax refund in a few days! It looks great on you! Is it a super loose fit though? I’m assuming you got XS, right? It looks nice the way you coordinated it!
Amazing outfits, both of you!
After seeing this post, I’m now on the verge of ordering from Everlane! How do you find the sizing and what size did you take in the silk shirt?
That’s great! Everlane is SO worth it. I did get an XS, but they’re not loose fit at all. I mean, they’re not tight either… it’s more like the shoulders and bust area is fitted, and the rest just drapes down straight. I would say they’re true to size — don’t go up or down a size!
I love the look! Although you said the coat is H&M, is there specific name for it?
