Bianca and I started working together 5 years ago after friending each other on music-scrobbling website last.fm. Though we attended the same high school for 3 years prior to meeting, the fact that Internet wizards brought us together to experience a series of life-altering and mind-numbing business-related endeavours is something I still have trouble wrapping my head around.

We started Kastor & Pollux after a 6-month hiatus from our first business, Plastic Skyline, which we started when we were 16 years old. We eventually grew tired of its juvenile aesthetic and creatively-stilting products – and jumped at the opportunity to start new venture.

Beginning with a pair of blogs launched in April 2011, Bianca and I planned for K&P to follow a (subjectively) intelligent business model focused on the optimization of social media and a give-no-shits blogger mentality. Why fall into the realm of ~live.breathe.fashion blog.~ when we had something (subjectively) (Y)(Y)(Y) going for us? With my background in graphic design, Bianca’s background in HTMLzzz, a shared passion for writing/styling/designing, we saw Kastor & Pollux as the perfect opportunity to continue joining creative forces under the premise of a more “mature” project.

The online boutique component of K&P launched on June 4th, 2011 after 2 months of material-sourcing, relentless production, and brand-promotion. Because neither of us are super keen garment-production machines, we diverged from clothing after our first collection and strayed towards the jewelry side of things. However, we eventually realized that our passion was truly rooted in clothing, and 5 collections and a joint-blogging effort later, Kastor & Pollux is stronger than we ever could’ve imagined. Encompassing handmade products, a blog, a sometimes updated Youtube channel, and various freelance writing projects to boot, I literally cannot wait to see what the world has in store with us next. I am so grateful for all the funfunfun and fabulous things that have happened over the past 24 months and I am so happy a great deal of you have been with us from the very start.

Some of them are more embarrassing than others (sorry for making that first picture continually resurface, Bianca), but I think it’s all in good fun. Plus, I had to go through all 100 pages of our blog so if that doesn’t show dedication to my craft, I don’t know what does…(A).
