My Main Men

My latest project at school involves taking an up-and-coming brand and creating their identity through graphic communication. Because the requirements include choosing a brand completely untouched by any form of branding, I knew immediately who to work with.

John Wolfe is a concept dreamt and nurtured by my good friend Michael Nyarkoh, involving all sorts of menswear pieces that are “sartorial with a left-wing twist” (a phrase they had obviously thought long and hard about because I had no idea what it meant). Basically – for those who are just as clueless as I am – they design tailored clothing for men who wish they could wear avant-garde capes/giant hats/kilts/etc but cannot, because they are too serious and are too concerned with what people would think. I meant that in a good way. Think Issey Miyake without the bright colours, or Junya Watanabe Man without the Justin Bieber. Does that make more sense? I feel like it does.

With that being said, I had the pleasure of meeting up with two people from their team yesterday, one of them being Michael and the other being Justin Escutin (…who may or may not be my boyfriend… and I may or may not have only mentioned that I “met up” with them because I want to sound cool and important… when in reality it just was a regular day with my friends…) Continue on for pictures of said beautiful individuals, who dress really nicely and are much taller than me.

Dress worn as top: thrifted
Cable knit shorts: Chicwish
Open cardigan: Aritzia
Scarf: H&M
Collar necklace: H&M
Amethyst necklace: Gift from my boyfriend
Boots: Nine West

In case you’re interested in more information about John Wolfe, click here for a link to their website, which isn’t maintained very often and currently has no collections as of late (they’re extremely secretive about what they’re planning), but it’s got cool pictures of a fashionable black man and a blog that is fun to read but is irrelevant to everything. I hope I’ll be able to improve their online presence once I finish this project! I’ll keep you posted.
