In a day and age where everyone wants more, Danielle and I realized the importance of scaling back in all aspects of our lives — no matter how big or small the gesture. Fashion, therefore, is but one area we’ve intended to improve on. With closet space running out faster than ever, we’ve slowly begun to collect what we feel is a little more timeless with a lot more quality (in addition to the fast-fashion statement piece we’re bound to succumb to every now and then).
For this reason, we designed GAEA — our Spring/Summer 2014 collection rooted in sustainability. Not only are the pieces made from eco-friendly bamboo jersey and produced ethically/locally (read: with the happy, willing hands of your fave pseudo-twins), but they’re timeless, practical, and versatile. Though the launch is still a week away, we’ve embarked on a fun little experiment to change up our own habits and (hopefully) inspire you guys to really think about how you consume.
Starting earlier this week, Danielle and I will each wear our Convertible Dress in a different colour to work/school for fifteen days straight. We know this whole shindig sounds coo coo crazy coming from a pair of gals who fancy a new appearance daily, but we’re confident each outfit will be totally different from the last because we don’t need clothes to define us — we’re fabulous the way we are *snap snap* (And also, since the dress can be worn open or tied at the waist, snazzily or casually, with a hat or a naked head, etc. it’s not /that/ obvious that we’re essentially sleeping/living in the same frock. So I suppose that’s a plus too!!!)
So without further ado, welcome to part 1 of 5 posts that will graciously document us wearing ~THIRTY BEAUTEOUS EMSEMBLEZ~ revolving around the aforementioned Convertible Dress. Check back every three days to **unlock** 6 new outfitzz.
While we’re only 3 days in, both Danielle and I are feeling pretty confident about our ability to wear one dress in different ways — and though many of the pieces in which we styled our dresses come from a smattering of fast fashion stores, at the core of it all, a boatload of research on sustainability in fashion has definitely heightened our awareness of our place as consumers; and hopefully, this is enough to change our purchasing patterns from here on out.
If you have any questions or are interested in learning more about responsible consumption, drop us a comment below or an email at contact@kastorandpollux.com, and remember to check back on Saturday for PART 2!!!
Kastor & Pollux’s S/S 14 collection, GAEA, will launch on Monday, March 17. Stay tuned!
